Route notes
The ferry was like a large speed boat for 100 people and took less than an hour to get to the mainland. The sea was a bit rough and the driving not the best which made a few people sick but I quite enjoyed the ride. Once on the mainland it took two hours to get to Surat Thani. Watch out for the con stop for the toilets and refreshments, ours was just before we got to the train station. Then when we pulled up at the station there was a second con, a lady with a tourist information badge guiding people to an expensive local restaurant. Just head to one of the many street stalls or local shops if you want some good honest food.
