Route notes
We got second class seats on night train No.86 (with air con) which got into Hualamphong Station in Bangkok at 6am. The sleeper carriage was already at the station which gave us plenty of time to find our seats and get sorted. The carriage was clean, spacious and comfortable. Half an hour later the train pulled in, we were hooked up and were on our way. Bed time was enforced at 8pm by the conductor who made the chair into beds with great gusto. A good night’s sleep was had thanks to the ear plugs and bandana over my eyes. The same could not be said for my wife who was kept awake by the Thai ladies chatting and then snoring, the bright light did not help either!
