Route notes

Amtrak call this route the California Zephyr which starts with towering Chicargo skyscrapers before passing through the Rockies and the Sierra Nevadas. I've not done this trip myself but it's reported as one of the most beautiful train trips in all of North America.

The Zephyr runs daily between Chicago and Emeryville/San Francisco, with stops in Omaha, Denver, Salt Lake City, Reno and Sacramento.
