Route notes

What better way to travel between the North Island and the South Island then to take the Interislander ferry. Your in sight of land most of the way getting to say an long goodbye to Wellington and a slow hello to South Island as you pass through the wonderful Marlborough Sound on the way to Picton. We were travelling in the evening on a sunny day which made the trip even more special as we were treated to a lovely sunset as we passed through Marlborough Sound. Once in Picton there are two good onward options, head West to Able Tasman National Park or hop on the TransCoastal Train to Kaikoura and Christchurch.
